Certification testing to ensure products meet internal and external specifications (including any or all: UL, CSA, ANSI, and IEC). Testing is based on adapting the generic Certification body test method to the specific Acuity Brands product and includes set-up, testing, reporting, and interpretation of results to product groups. This includes testing of digital, analog, and mixed signal electronic circuits for lighting and lighting controls. Responsibilities require soldering and thermocouple adhesion to board level components such as LEDs and resistors.
Photometric testing utilizing goniophotometers and integrating spheres to measure total flux output, spatial intensity distribution, and spectral distribution per IES, ANSI, and other applicable standards.
Maintain lab space to meet 5S goals. Adapt and modify to improve testing performance as needs arise.
Measure in accordance with KPI (key performance indicators) metrics. Shared accountability within the department to fulfill Acuity Brands Lighting/Lean initiatives. Use Lean tools and KPI measures to maintain a consistent flow through the lab and identify areas/activities in need of improvement.
Automate test setups.
Maintain test equipment and test equipment records.
Develop new test methods per UL, CSA, ANSI, IEC and Acuity specific and create associated standard work and test procedures.
Train lab technicians.
