Associate Engineer

Description

As an Associate Engineer, you will play a key leadership role within a dynamic, multi-disciplinary Infrastructure team. You will oversee and guide engineering delivery across the full project lifecycle, from early-stage strategy and concept design through to detailed design, approvals, and construction support.

• Leading civil infrastructure design activities with a focus on best practice, quality, and innovation
• Supporting project resourcing, financial performance, and client communication
• Oversight of earthworks strategies, masterplanning inputs, and development feasibility assessments
• Mentoring and developing engineers and technicians within the team
• Leadership of highway, access, drainage (including SuDS), and utility design packages
• Preparing, reviewing, and signing off technical reports, specifications, and design deliverables
• Managing the development and review of BIM models, CAD deliverables, and BIM Execution Plans

Requirements

You must hold Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with ICE, CIWEM, or an equivalent professional institution.

• Experience mentoring junior team members and supporting technical development
• A strong technical background in civil infrastructure design, ideally with specialism in highways and/or drainage/SuDS
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D (MicroDrainage knowledge advantageous)
• Demonstrable understanding of BIM processes, standards, and digital workflows
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proven experience delivering designs with limited supervision and coordinating work across disciplines
• Confidence engaging with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies
