The incumbent will work closely with project staff, mentor junior colleagues, and contribute to proposal writing and business development while managing taxonomy projects. - Perform taxonomic identification of freshwater and marine invertebrates
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control measures
- Enter data into a SQL relational database
- Calculate biodiversity indices for reporting
- Collaborate with staff on project tasks in a team environment
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior staff
- Contribute to proposal writing and business development
- Manage taxonomy projects

Candidates must hold a master’s degree in Biology, Ecology, or a related discipline and have at least five years of experience in macroinvertebrate taxonomy, preferably with marine and freshwater species from Florida. Experience with FDEP standard operating procedures, project management, SQL data entry, and proficiency in Microsoft Office are preferred.
- Master’s degree in Biology, Ecology, or related discipline
- 5+ years experience in macroinvertebrate taxonomy (marine and freshwater)
- Knowledge of benthic macroinvertebrate taxonomy, zooplankton, phytoplankton, or periphyton
- Experience with aquatic habitat assessment, sampling techniques, and habitat requirements
- Familiarity with Florida DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SOPs for macroinvertebrate lab processing
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including report and proposal preparation
