The Central Utility Plant Operator in New London, CT serves as the technical expert responsible for maintaining critical infrastructure and ensuring continuous utility services. This role involves operating advanced building management systems, monitoring complex mechanical equipment, and upholding JLL’s standards for safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance.
- Monitor and control Central Utility Plant operations using BMS and manual controls to optimize performance and energy efficiency
- Conduct facility rounds and inspections of CUP-related systems, identifying and documenting issues to prevent failures
- Diagnose and correct system malfunctions, abnormal conditions, and occupant comfort complaints
- Manage water chemistry programs for boiler, condensate, condenser, and chilled water systems per industry standards
- Create work orders in CMMS platforms for equipment deficiencies and maintain accurate operational documentation
- Communicate facility status and emergent issues to supervision and stakeholders with professional updates

- Hold a Connecticut State Operators License or meet education requirements for licensing within one month of hire
- Experience with CMMS work order systems such as Corrigo, Maximo, HotSOS, or Amadeus platforms
- Ability to work all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support 24/7 plant operations
- Physical capability to perform facility rounds, equipment inspections, and manual operations in an industrial plant
- Preferred: prior experience in utility plant operations, boiler systems, or critical facility management
- Preferred: knowledge of water treatment processes, chemical handling, and water quality testing
- Preferred: familiarity with BMS, HVAC controls, energy management platforms, and data center environmental monitoring
- Preferred: experience with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and root‑cause analysis
Benefits
The position works a rotating schedule of Thursday, Friday, Saturday 7 PM–7 AM and alternating Wednesdays 11 PM–7 AM, with a base salary of $108,160 and a 10 % differential for night hours. It is on‑site in New London and does not provide visa sponsorship; candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
