Bridge Inspection Team Leader / Senior Engineer

Responsible for managing timely completion of multiple assigned tasks
Inspects and monitors piling installation to ensure location and bearing.
Analyze and prepare project designs, calculations and drawings for steel bridges; pre-cast, pre-stressed concrete bridges; cast-in-place flat slabs; and miscellaneous structures, with guidance provided on assigned tasks as required
Verifies reinforcing steel location before placement of concrete.
Approach tasks with an open mindset; propose innovative solutions to design problems
Performs inspection/testing activities which may include the following:
May serve as Lead Inspector.
Provides technical guidance to lower-level inspectors, as needed.
Validates piping systems, including piping & instrumentation diagram (P&ID) checks and hydraulic or other pressure tests.
Maintains project progress record files, quantity estimates, and daily diaries.
Prepares quality control reports and recommends changes to procedures.
Inspects electrical installations to ensure proper grounding, circuit integrity, and adherence to statutory and customer regulations.
Administers welder qualification tests.
Ensure timely completion of time sheets and expense reports
Adhere to company marketing requirements by providing timely personal resume updates and participating in marketing campaigns
Conducts inspections/tests to determine if work has been done in accordance with contract specifications.
Performs work in safe manner and is cognizant of public safety.
Take ownership of personal career development by seeking and providing feedback, seizing opportunities to develop new skills, and setting and pursuing personal goals
Contribute to the development of other team members through mentorship and modeling positive behaviors
Verifies equipment alignment and balancing operations.

Documents nonconformance and participates in determining appropriate resolution.
Provides general inspection on all construction labor and subcontracted tasks to ensure professional workmanship.
May assign, track, and review tasks of technicians or designers; technical discretion applied to first revision of technician work product
Communicate effectively with team members, internal design groups, and external entities including clients, subconsultants, and relevant government agencies
Prepare engineering reports and contract documents for review
Ability to recognize hazardous work conditions and quickly remediate the situation(s)
Able to work outside in all weather conditions
Thorough understanding of scheduling
Ability to comply with project requirements as applicable based on client and industry standards
Ability to climb ladders, inspect work above ground, and work in confined spaces
Experience with NBIS Bridge Inspections
Ability to mentor, guide, and lead others
Professional Engineer (P.E.)
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (i.e., lifting materials used for testing of concrete, AC, etc.)
Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
Advanced knowledge of public works contracts and construction related processes
Must have the following certifications, as determined by job assignments: National Highway Institute (NHI) training course # 130055, “Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges” or # 130056, "Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges for Professional Engineers"

Ability to review progress pay estimates and extra work bills
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (or related field)
Experience with NTIS Tunnel Inspections
TxDOT Precertified for 6.1.1 Routine Bridge Inspection Team Leader
Ability to understand complex written and verbal instructions
Certified in Highway Construction, Highway Design, and/or Highway Surveys is desired
Effective math skills including advanced knowledge of engineering calculations, graphs, and charts
Ability to use good judgment and work with others
Destructive and nondestructive tests on metals and other materials through magnaflex, dye penetrant, radiographic, tension/compression, paint thickness, and resistivity.
