Facilities Manager

Description

We are seeking a Facilities Manager for our Residential team in Iqaluit, NU, reporting to the Regional Manager. The role involves planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating maintenance and cleaning teams across a portfolio of residential buildings, while acting as the subject‑matter expert for pest control, mould, and asbestos remediation, and ensuring renovation standardization and participation in the Maintenance Warranty Program.

• Train, guide, and supervise the maintenance supervisor and maintenance/cleaning teams.
• Coordinate with the health and safety manager to ensure safe facility operations.
• Oversee contractors for renovation, asbestos abatement, and mould remediation projects.
• Assist with maintenance and renovation tasks as needed.
• Manage emergencies outside regular office hours.
• Prepare reports on down units and the maintenance warranty program.
• Schedule and assign tasks for the traveling renovation crew.
• Develop and enforce maintenance, cleaning, and 48‑hour warranty policies and procedures.
• Create training programs, manuals, and videos.
• Ensure timely completion of maintenance, caretaking, and other projects across regions.
• Conduct facility inspections when requested.
• Share best practices with other managers.
• Develop policies for renovation standardization and handling of asbestos, mould, and pest control.

Requirements

The successful candidate will collaborate with regional managers, health and safety personnel, and contractors to maintain safe, reliable facilities and drive continuous improvement. This position requires independent work, strong leadership, and analytical skills to manage projects, emergencies, and reporting requirements effectively.

• Hold a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel.
• Minimum 3 years progressive experience in facilities, project, or property management, preferably in large multi‑family complexes.
• Proficiency with work order management systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical, decision‑making, leadership, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as a self‑starter.
• Hands‑on experience in building maintenance or renovations.
• Knowledge of or willingness to be trained in asbestos, mould, and pest control.
• Capability to analyze financial and technical data.
