McKenney's provides mechanical contracting, service, and engineering solutions for diverse sectors.
As a co‑op, you will join the team from day one, receiving training and tasks that are important and impactful to project success. Success depends on initiative and teamwork; a co‑op will support projects from pre‑construction through closeout, collaborating with Project Managers, vendors, and field teams to coordinate materials, manage logistics, and uphold safety, quality, and budget standards. Top‑performing co‑ops may take on increased responsibilities and ownership of projects under guidance. McKenney’s has a long history of hiring co‑ops, many senior leaders began their journey in the program.
Work is performed in a typical interior/office environment with routine job‑site visits that may require climbing stairs or ladders, passenger use of hoists, and navigating active construction areas; occasional light physical effort handling objects up to 50 pounds may be required.
Students must be enrolled in a co‑op program at an accredited engineering school majoring in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Computer Science, or a related degree, and be able to complete three full‑time alternating co‑op rotations (Summer 2026, Spring 2027, Fall 2027) before graduation, while avoiding a full courseload during the work periods.
Candidates should demonstrate strong time‑management, self‑motivation, independent and team work, attention to detail, and effective verbal and written communication across multidisciplinary teams such as Project Managers, field staff, drafting, and shops.
