Description

This position is accountable for building and setting forms made of wood, metal, vinyl, and other materials in accordance with customer specifications (plans). The Form Setter drives wooden and metal stakes with a sledgehammer, and hammers or screws nails and other fasteners to secure the forms.

• Build, erect, and align forms for concrete structures and pier foundations using preformed systems.
• Set anchor bolts for drilled pier foundations.
• Estimate concrete quantities and select appropriate mixes.
• Interpret blueprints, read survey stakes, and calculate areas and volumes.
• Spread concrete to specified depth and consistency.
• Perform rough leveling and shaping of concrete surfaces.
• Remove rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces using a power grinder.
• Mix cement with a concrete mixing machine.
• Assist other workers and the foreman as needed.
• Mentor and train other foundation employees.
• Complete and maintain work records, field paperwork, and generate reports.
• Support drilling processes when necessary.
• Operate equipment and tools such as cement mixers, power trowels, hoists, and surveying instruments.
• Maintain equipment and tools for long‑lasting use.
• Preserve company confidentiality by not disclosing proprietary information.
• Ensure personal safety and the safety of co‑workers.
• Stop work immediately when unsafe conditions are identified or anticipated.
• Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Report violations of laws, regulations, or company policies promptly.
• Work in constantly changing weather and site conditions.
• Perform physical activities such as lifting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching.

Requirements

The incumbent must have the ability and flexibility to work varying shifts and long hours (8‑12 hours). Weekend work and extra hours occur according to production needs and at the discretion of the Supervisor.

A minimum of one year of experience finishing concrete structures and pier foundations, setting steel preformed forming systems, and pouring concrete is required, and a high school diploma or GED is preferred.

The incumbent must be able to work in constantly changing weather and site conditions and perform the physical demands of the job.

The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation and must wear appropriate personal protective equipment such as a hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, and steel‑toed shoes as required. The individual must remain calm during emergencies, respond as directed, and be able to evacuate the work area promptly.
