A national commercial construction firm delivering complex projects since 1953.
The Project Engineer supports Project Managers by ensuring all installed work aligns with project plans and specifications. This position bridges design intent and field execution, contributing to successful project delivery.
The role requires active participation in project team meetings, such as weekly owner/architect and subcontractor coordination sessions, where notes are taken and minutes distributed. Weekly progress reports are prepared, project schedules are updated, and assistance is provided in bidding and developing scopes of work for trade contractors.
Collaboration with the superintendent involves establishing milestone dates for shop drawings, samples, and material approvals, while maintaining logs of RFIs, change requests, and proposals. The engineer advises on concrete pour procedures, inspects reinforcement, coordinates slump and compaction testing, and reviews field installation to ensure compliance.
Key responsibilities include becoming intimately familiar with project documents, reviewing shop drawings and submittals, and evaluating plans for value, constructability, and appropriate material usage. The engineer communicates any inconsistencies to architects and proposes labor‑saving and cost‑effective solutions.
Safety is a paramount concern; the engineer follows all safety policies, reports unsafe conditions, and ensures adherence to OSHA and company requirements. The position demands a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field, strong communication skills, proficiency with Word and Excel, blueprint literacy, and the ability to work flexibly in team environments.
