HT-Applications Engineer

Description

The Applications Engineer acts as a technical resource for Sales Engineering and Aftermarket teams, supporting quote development, specification review, ASME code compliance and mechanical design, while coordinating with engineering, manufacturing, quality and customers to deliver technically sound and commercially competitive solutions.

• Provide technical support to Sales Engineering and Aftermarket teams for interpreting customer inquiries and creating accurate technical and commercial quotations.
• Review customer specifications for mechanical design, ASME code, welding, NDE, testing, and fabrication; identify exceptions, clarifications, and risks.
• Collaborate with Welding and Quality teams to address customer welding procedures, NDE requirements, and quality specifications.
• Work with Manufacturing and Purchasing to evaluate fabrication capabilities, material availability, and lead‑time constraints, communicating technical and commercial impacts to Sales Engineering.
• Interface directly with customers to resolve technical issues and propose innovative, compliant, cost‑effective solutions to support order acquisition.
• Apply ASME Section VIII Division 1, API 663, API 660, TEMA and other standards to assess design feasibility, manufacturing constraints and cost impacts.
• Lead the technical hand‑off from Sales to the Execution/Project team to ensure a smooth transition.
• Perform preliminary mechanical and thermal designs of heat exchangers using appropriate design tools and engineering judgment.
• Read and interpret technical drawings.

Requirements

• Understand manufacturing and fabrication processes.
• Possess foundational knowledge of heat transfer and hydraulics.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Highly organized with strong time‑management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
• Familiarity with ASME, TEMA, NACE, API standards (preferred).
• Experience interpreting customer specifications and technical documents (preferred).
• Knowledge of heat‑exchanger design and pressure vessels (preferred).
• Proficiency with HTRI software (preferred).
• Exposure to refinery and petrochemical processes (preferred).
• Experience preparing proposals for EPCs and end users (preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering.
• 2–3 years of experience in heat‑exchanger technical sales or estimating (preferred).
