Survey technician

Description

• Assist with site surveys, quantity verification, and as-built measurements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, construction plans, and specifications.
• Collaborate with project teams to verify dimensions, resolve discrepancies, and ensure proper placement of structural elements.
• Prepare and maintain layout logs, field notes, and documentation for project records.
• Monitor layout accuracy throughout the project and make adjustments as needed.
• Operate layout equipment such as total stations, GPS units, laser levels, and related tools.
• Communicate clearly with superintendents, foremen, and project managers regarding layout progress and needs.
• Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot layout equipment.
• Ensure compliance with safety guidelines, company policies, and OSHA regulations.
• Establish and mark control points, elevations, and layout lines on job sites.

Requirements

• Proficiency with layout tools: total station, robotic total station, GPS system, transit, laser level, etc.
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction documents.
• 1-3+ years of experience as a layout technician, survey technician, or related construction role.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions and lift 50+ lbs.
• Solid understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and tolerances.
