The role encompasses comprehensive KM support, including monitoring and access management of NIPRNET and SIPRNET share drives, as well as enterprise repositories such as ETMS2, Alfresco, SharePoint site collections, and CDMS LiveLink sites. Responsibilities include designing and governing enterprise taxonomies and metadata structures, administering SharePoint permissions and site architecture, maintaining KM portals and AAR/LL databases, and ensuring compliance with DoD, Navy, and NAVSEA records policies. The specialist will also develop KM strategies, track usage metrics, provide user training, liaise with internal and external stakeholders, and support information‑assurance, electronic spillage, and Risk Management Framework validation activities.
Nakupuna Consulting is hiring a Senior Knowledge Management (KM) Specialist to support NAVSEA 04 (Industrial Operations) at the Washington Navy Yard. The specialist will develop and maintain a knowledge environment that enables effective collaboration and information sharing across tools, systems, and mission partners. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, understanding of KM processes, and the ability to support data organization in a dynamic, mission‑focused setting.
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Knowledge Management, Communications, or a related field, and possess 6‑10 years of experience supporting information management or collaboration platforms within the Department of Defense or a similar organization. Required credentials include a SharePoint certification and familiarity with taxonomy design, controlled vocabularies, metadata standards, and records‑information management principles. Strong facilitation, change‑management, and communication skills, as well as proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, and OneDrive, are essential.
The position is located in the DC metro area and requires five days per week on‑site at the Washington Navy Yard. Applicants must be U.S. citizens eligible for a Secret clearance and able to meet physical job requirements. Compensation is market‑based, with an annual salary range of $115,000 to $140,000, complemented by Nakupuna’s total compensation package.
