The estimator obtains, calculates, and compiles data for conceptual and bid proposal estimates, preparing routine estimates under general supervision.
In this position, the estimator collaborates with sales and operations teams, leads documentation management, and drives the estimating process from pre‑bid discussions through post‑bid actions, ensuring deadlines are met and cost‑effective alternatives are identified.
The position may involve mentoring junior estimators, participating in hiring and performance reviews, and handling larger, more complex projects with increased scope.
- Ensure all quantity surveys and pricing are accurate and complete
- Support development of bidding strategies by debriefing sales staff on job elements
- Lead project documentation management and communicate decisions to sales and operations teams
- Attend pre‑bid meetings to discuss project specifics and scope
- Participate in bid closings and estimate reviews
- Balance workload and assignments to meet deadlines
- Develop value‑analysis studies to identify cost‑efficient alternatives
- Manage post‑bid action items and finalize ISEC scope
- Compute cost estimates for materials, equipment, subcontracted work, production activities, and labor
- Deliver outstanding service to internal and external customers
- Take ownership of resolving customer problems or escalating appropriately
- Listen actively, ask clarifying questions, and confirm agreement
- Follow up with customers promptly in all situations
- Create personal connections with customers through friendly, respectful interactions
- Apply high‑level strategy and proactive engagement to drive estimating process

The role requires strong customer‑service skills, including ownership of problem resolution, active listening, timely follow‑up, accountability, and a positive, respectful attitude toward internal and external stakeholders.
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field, have at least seven years of experience, and meet all minimum qualifications for Estimator I and II, with additional expertise in strategic estimating, supplier knowledge, ISEC products and processes, and independent decision‑making.
