Civil Engineer- PPD

Description

• Support, lead and/or manage high voltage utility projects, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budget.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure alignment of technical specifications while delivering high-quality engineering outputs.
• Conduct civil and structural designs for substations up to 500kV voltages.
• Develop, review, and validate models for structural components using software tools such as RISA, PLS-CADD, L-Pile or similar.
• Create specifications for concrete, steel, earthwork, and other miscellaneous materials required to build the project.
• Design and analyze electrical systems, ensuring they meet the necessary technical requirements, codes, and client specifications.
• Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to improve power system studies.
• Be actively involved in the preparation of proposals and business development activities.
• Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and clients to streamline workflow and improve project delivery.
• Provide technical guidance to engineering teams, mentoring junior engineers and offering support in complex problem-solving.
• Conduct physical substation designs that include physical layout, site grading, foundation designs, structural support designs, and all other civil engineering aspects required.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation that summarize study findings and recommendations, assisting clients in making informed decisions.

Requirements

• Proficiency in software tools for power system studies (e.g., RISA, PLS-CADD, L-Pile).
• Civil or Structural Engineering degree from an accredited university.
• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and precision.
• Ability to travel to the Overland Park office for training, development, team building, and client engagement activities.
• Previous experience working in the US market and/or with a US based engineering company.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in power system analysis and studies
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, codes, and standards applicable to the US market.
• Be proactive in supporting construction operations with a problem-solving mindset.
• Full understanding of ACI codes and standards applicable to the electrical grid.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in power system analysis and studies.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with a commitment to meeting deadlines.
• Ability to communicate complex technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Previous experience working in the US market.
• Full understanding of ASCE codes and standards applicable to the electrical grid.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering, with a focus in the power and energy market preferred.
