You will perform system service and maintenance tasks such as preventative maintenance, commissioning, and installation of security and building automation systems. This includes troubleshooting intrusion, access control, IP video, intercom, network, gates, and barriers, and providing field sketches for engineering corrections.
The role requires strong communication with customers, ensuring high satisfaction by keeping them informed, recommending upgrades, and promoting add‑on work. You will collaborate with branch, service, and project managers, as well as subcontractors, while adhering to safety standards and delivering training and documentation.
- Perform system service, preventive maintenance, commissioning, and installation
- Diagnose and repair complex electronic control system malfunctions
- Troubleshoot security systems including intrusion, access control, IP video, intercom, network, gates, and barriers
- Create field sketches and documentation for engineering corrections
- Communicate with customers on arrival, during service, and upon project completion
- Recommend system enhancements, upgrades, and repairs to improve performance
- Promote and sell add‑on work where appropriate
- Coordinate activities with managers, project managers, and subcontractors
- Ensure compliance with Johnson Controls and customer safety standards
- Deliver training, manuals, and documentation to customers
- Mentor and train mechanical workforce on building automation systems
- Compile job documentation such as certificates of completion and punch lists

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of experience with low‑voltage control systems, a solid background in electronics or computer technology, and the ability to explain technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences. Leadership skills, networking knowledge, and proficiency with software such as American Dynamics, Avigilon, Lenel, Genetec, and Kantech are required. - Knowledge of site preparation, peripheral equipment installation, and servicing techniques
- Strong interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls professionally
- Ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences
- Leadership ability to support technicians and subcontractors on job sites
- Proficiency with PC programming and software platforms (American Dynamics, Avigilon, Lenel, Genetec, Kantech, etc.)
- Vocational school, associate degree in electronics, systems, or computer technology (preferred)
- Additional experience with networking and service software (preferred)
