The Heavy Equipment Preventive Maintenance (PM) Technician performs preventive maintenance on all types of trucks and equipment, including diesel and non-diesel, to maximize safe and productive operations. The role focuses on preventative maintenance and other mechanic-type tasks.
- Perform preventive maintenance and basic repairs on diesel, gasoline, and electric trucks, excavators, wheel loaders, and compactors.
- Inspect equipment for condition, operation, fluid levels, and safety equipment; identify problems.
- Power wash equipment as needed.
- Check, fill, and change fluids for engine, transmission, differentials, pump drives, and hubs.
- Grease, oil, and lubricate components during service.
- Adjust various systems during preventive maintenance.
- Replace air, oil, coolant, and fuel filters.
- Conduct cooling system maintenance.
- Inspect tires according to Republic Services Tire Maintenance Standards.
- Complete paperwork documenting parts usage, work order times, and consumables for the Dossier system.
- Drive equipment in and out of repair areas and follow all safety policies.
- Maintain basic computer skills using MS Excel and word processing applications.

Qualifications include basic computer skills with MS Excel and word processing applications, completion of the Republic PM Program and other relevant training, a high school diploma or G.E.D., and a Mechanical Trade School certificate or degree.
A minimum of one year of experience in a technician position is required, with knowledge and application of OSHA HazCom, Lockout/Tagout, and fire protection regulations.
- Complete required training programs such as the Republic PM Program and One Fleet Republic Way.
- Hold a high school diploma or GED and a Mechanical Trade School certificate or degree.
- Possess at least one year of experience with OSHA HazCom, Lockout/Tagout, and fire protection regulations.
