BRIDGE/STRUCTURAL CARPENTER

Description

• Construct and dismantle concrete forms for bridges, culverts, and walls.
• Prepare construction layout and estimate dimensions.
• Follow project instructions from the construction manager or supervisor.
• Interpret and work from blueprints and project specifications.
• Erect and remove forms, guardrails, and temporary supports.
• Load and unload materials and construction supplies manually and with equipment.
• Operate power tools such as saws, concrete vibrators, and air chisels.
• Shovel dirt, gravel, and concrete; clean debris and hazardous materials.
• Erect scaffolding and ladders for elevated work.
• Adhere to health and safety procedures and report violations promptly.
• Interpret survey controls, grade checking, and bridge geometry.
• Work while tied off to fall protection; navigate uneven ground and perform climbing, balancing, crouching, and crawling tasks.

Requirements

Branch Civil is seeking a skilled and reliable Bridge and Structural Carpenter to join its growing team. The carpenter will construct, erect, and repair concrete forms for footings, slabs, walls, columns, and bridge decks, utilizing machines for layout, rebar tying, and other heavy civil construction tasks. The ideal candidate works with minimal oversight while following directions closely.

The role demands strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions, including lifting heavy objects, standing and walking for long periods, and frequent manual handling of 10‑pound items and occasional 100‑pound loads.

• Set and tie steel rebar.
• Maintain knowledge of driving piles, form erection and wrecking, concrete pouring and finishing, and erosion control.
• Read civil construction plans; experience on large highway, bridge/structure, paving, and utility relocation projects.
• Demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
