Field Technician - Roofing

Description

• Assist with roof preparation, including loading/unloading materials, staging supplies, and removing old roofing components.
• Operate hand and power tools under supervision, including drills, saws, nail guns, compactors, and measuring devices.
• Support site documentation tasks such as taking photos, measurements, or logging material usage (as needed).
• Maintain professionalism when interacting with clients or property owners and support basic site documentation as needed.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles to ensure they remain clean, organized, and in good working condition.
• Inspect job sites for potential hazards and immediately report unsafe conditions or equipment issues.
• Assist skilled tradespeople (roofers, carpenters, electricians, etc.) with labor support, measurements, tool handling, and workspace preparation.
• Prepare job sites by setting up ladders, scaffolding, safety lines, barricades, and required tools or equipment.
• Perform basic repairs or installation support for roofing systems, flashing, and underlayment as directed.
• Assist in erecting and dismantling temporary structures such as scaffolding or protective barriers.
• Assist with material tracking, reporting shortages, and performing basic safety checks such as verifying clear walkways or proper ladder placement.
• Transport materials to and from rooftops safely, using proper lifting techniques.
• Perform general labor tasks such as debris removal, surface cleanup, and job site organization.

Requirements

• Must own basic hand tools (e.g., hammer, utility knife, measuring tape, tool belt, basic screwdrivers/wrenches).
• Adaptability – Adjusts to changing priorities, weather conditions, job site environments, and project timelines.
• Attention to Detail – Ensures accuracy in measurements, material handling, tool usage, and job site organization.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
• Dependable transportation to the office or job sites.
• Collaboration & Relationship Building – Works effectively within team environments and maintains positive working relationships.
• Basic Construction & Roofing Knowledge – Understands foundational construction and roofing methods, material handling, and safe use of tools. Demonstrates willingness to learn advanced techniques and follow instructions precisely.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, wind).
• 0–3 years of experience in construction or related job site work (roofing experience preferred but not required).
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb throughout the day.
• Comfortable working at heights, on ladders, scaffolding, or rooftops for significant portions of the workday.
• Initiative – Self-motivated; proactively takes on tasks and identifies opportunities to support the team.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and perform physical labor for extended periods.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• Ability to follow instructions, adhere to safety guidelines, and work independently or as part of a team.
• Effective Communication – Communicates clearly with supervisors and crew members; asks questions to ensure safety and accuracy.
