Based primarily in Derby, the RVI Engineer will provide practical and technical support to inspection development and implementation projects across the UK and, where required, on offshore platforms or abroad. The role also involves engineering activities to generate and approve procedural documentation and develop bespoke equipment.
The position requires conducting on‑site inspection procedures for the NSRP and secondary systems, producing documentation and reports, and performing visual inspections with borescopes, fibrescopes, videoprobes and camera systems. The engineer will also provide technical advice, maintain and develop RVI processes, engage with internal and external customers, and support the Metallurgy team.
Shift patterns are typically 12‑hour days or nights, with flexible working hours in Derby (7:00 am‑6:00 pm). The role involves travelling to various UK sites, amounting to roughly 90 deployment days per year, and may require rapid deployment on less than 48‑hour notice.
Candidates should have a solid understanding of visual inspection techniques or experience with RVI equipment, a flexible attitude to work on‑site for up to four weeks, strong communication skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and databases. A degree or HND/HNC in a STEM subject (or equivalent apprenticeship/experience), the ability to work unsupervised, physical capability to work around submarines, and a UK driving licence are required.
Applicants must be UK nationals (or MoD‑approved dual nationals) and will need a Security Check clearance, which Rolls‑Royce will support. The company’s multi‑year transformation programme aims to create a high‑performing, resilient and inclusive workplace where every individual can thrive.
Rolls‑Royce offers a culture that values individuality, diverse perspectives and continuous innovation, giving engineers the chance to work on world‑class solutions that power, protect and connect people globally.
