Senior Quantity Surveyor

Description

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll report directly to the Commercial Manager, taking responsibility for the commercial management of key phases within the programme. You’ll lead on procurement, cost planning, contract administration, and value engineering, ensuring financial and delivery objectives are achieved across the project.

You will also support the Commercial Manager in overseeing and developing junior surveyors, providing mentorship, guidance, and structure across the commercial team. This role offers a clear route to Commercial Manager level, where you’ll go on to lead future major projects within the developer’s London portfolio.

• Implement value engineering initiatives to enhance efficiency while maintaining design quality.
• Lead on procurement, tendering, subcontractor management, and cost reporting.
• Oversee valuations, variations, change control, and contract administration.
• Play an active role in developing and leading junior commercial talent within a high-performing team.
• Collaborate with project, design, and technical teams to align budgets, programme, and delivery goals.
• Manage and mentor junior surveyors, assisting the Commercial Manager in developing team capability and performance.
• Report to and support the Commercial Manager in managing the project’s overall commercial performance.
• Work on a £300m flagship regeneration scheme transforming North West London.
• Produce detailed cost forecasts, cash flows, and commercial risk assessments.

Requirements

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a Tier 1 residential developer delivering one of North West London’s largest and most ambitious regeneration schemes.

• Proficient in Excel and cost management systems.
• Proven track record as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on large-scale RC frame or mixed-use residential schemes.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
• Commercially astute, proactive, and confident working within a multi-phase regeneration environment.
• Strong understanding of procurement strategy, cost control, and contract management.
• Ability to support, guide, and motivate junior members of the commercial team.
