  • Plan and execute noise impact assessments for mining, infrastructure, industrial, energy, transportation, commercial, and recreational projects.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on permitting, planning, and environmental studies.
  • Develop and apply acoustical models (e.g., CadnaA) to predict sound propagation under varied environmental conditions.
  • Design noise control and mitigation strategies for compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Effective development of feasible and defensible noise mitigation solutions.
  • Develop environmental noise analyses for industrial, utility, and transportation clients, to satisfy federal, state, or local acoustic criteria. Environmental acoustic analyses include noise monitoring, modeling, and mitigation design.
  • Prepare technical deliverables, including environmental assessments, permitting documents, and compliance monitoring reports.
  • Serve as liaison in acoustics, representing the firm with clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and best practices for noise management.
  • Travel to projects to conduct ambient and operating sound surveys.
  • Provide training and mentoring to colleagues on acoustic tools and methodologies.
  • Provide technical leadership in sound measurement, analysis, and modeling.
  • Receive general direction from senior technical leaders while independently managing assigned projects.
  • Prepare and deliver technical reports, testimony, and public presentations to agencies, commissions, and courts.
  • Stay current with advancements in noise control engineering, modeling techniques, and regulatory frameworks.

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple time-sensitive tasks.

  • Experience across multiple industries (e.g., mining, renewable energy, transportation, parks/recreation, commercial development) preferred.
  • Board Certification in Noise Control Engineering (INCE Bd. Cert.) preferred.
  • Accuracy and reliability of noise measurement, modeling, and impact assessments.
  • Recognition as a trusted technical resource for clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • High level of motivation and a problem-solving attitude.
  • Membership in the Institute of Noise Control Engineering and/or Acoustical Society of America preferred.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Acoustical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field required.
  • Ability to be a self-starter with strong marketing/business development skills
  • Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Five or more (5+) years of professional experience in environmental noise analysis, modeling, and control.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and external partners.
  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasionally reaching outward or above shoulder.
  • Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.
  • Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets and fax machines.
