Senior Corporate Counsel-AEC

Description

The Senior Corporate Counsel reports to the Chief Legal Officer. This position examines contracts involving design and construction projects, leases, insurance, and other corporate and governance agreements, and provides legal advice to the organization. The role prepares reports, guidelines and participates in the management of legal actions, working closely with other departments to foresee and protect the company against legal risks. The position can be based near CRB locations in Kansas City, MO; St. Louis, MO; Atlanta, GA; Cary, NC; or Boston, MA.

• Partner with internal stakeholders to assess legal and business risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Manage multiple projects to successful completion.
• Examine and review contracts related to design, construction, leases, insurance, and corporate governance.
• Provide legal advice and prepare reports, guidelines, and manage legal actions.
• Collaborate with other departments to anticipate and protect against legal risks.

Requirements

• Hold a Juris Doctor degree and be licensed to practice law in the applicable state(s).
• Possess at least five years of legal experience, preferably in engineering and construction law or a corporate legal department.
• Experience managing and resolving engineering and construction disputes and litigation.
• Skilled in preparation, review, and negotiation of design and construction contracts.
• Excellent writing, communication, presentation, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Demonstrated leadership, cross‑functional influence, mentorship, and strategic decision‑making.
• Service‑oriented mindset with strong business acumen and a team‑player attitude.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, SharePoint) and able to research compliance issues.
• Willing to travel 15–20 % of the time.
