The Mechanical Technician role oversees and monitors refrigeration, emergency backup, and boiler systems, adjusting operations and maintaining chilled water, pumps, valves, piping, and filters. The incumbent must analyze system performance, diagnose malfunctions, and take corrective action to ensure reliable equipment operation.
Daily duties include recording equipment readings, performing preventive maintenance on base‑building and critical systems, assisting other mechanics with major repairs, and maintaining accurate logs and work orders. The technician must follow job‑related permits, complete Job Hazard Analyses, and wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.
Required qualifications are a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook, and the ability to work in all weather conditions with 24‑hour availability. Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 lb, performing overhead work, operating hand tools, and accessing confined spaces such as crawl spaces and attics.
Preferred experience includes basic plumbing repairs, minor electrical work, familiarity with building automation systems, and strong troubleshooting skills using diagnostic tools. Candidates should understand OSHA standards, be able to work with minimal supervision, and possess strong interpersonal and customer‑service abilities.
The position follows an alternating weekly schedule—Monday‑Thursday one week, Monday‑Wednesday the next—and a weekend PM shift from 5:00 pm to 5:30 am on a 4‑day‑on/3‑day‑off rotation. It is an on‑site role located in Bloomington, IN, and does not provide visa sponsorship.
