VoICE Lead Electronics Technician

Description

• Lead teams to replace defective components and assemblies, conduct performance tests and calibrations, and document all maintenance activities in accordance with FAA technical orders and maintenance management systems.
• Lead teams in the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of VoICE electronic systems and related infrastructure.
• Coordinate with engineering, logistics, and program management teams to support deployment schedules and ensure technical deliverables are met.
• Oversee the collection and management of system documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, test procedures, and maintenance records.
• Manage configuration control processes and ensure accurate documentation of system updates and modifications.
• Ensure all work complies with safety procedures and quality standards to support continuous, reliable operation of mission-critical air traffic management infrastructure.
• Lead teams to respond to equipment outages to restore critical systems quickly.
• Maintain and manage collaboration platforms such as SharePoint for technical documentation and team coordination.
• Maintain spare parts inventory.
• Ensure all electronic systems and documentation are compliant with FAA standards and technical specifications.
• Support technician onboarding and training by providing access to relevant technical guides, procedures, and mentoring.
• Identify and resolve technical issues; recommend improvements to maintenance procedures and documentation workflows.
• Oversee preventative maintenance inspections, diagnose equipment malfunctions using systematic troubleshooting procedures.

Requirements

• Excellent organizational, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Bachelor of Science and 16-24 years of experience is required.
• Strong understanding of VoIP systems, digital communications, and electronic infrastructure.
• Travel: 25%
• Lifting and Carrying: Occasional lifting of equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds may be required during installations or maintenance.
• High School Diploma and +20 years of experience in electronics technician roles, systems maintenance, or technical support within telecommunications or IT environments is required.
• Extended Computer Use: Regular and prolonged periods of working at a computer terminal.
• Experience required:
• Background check: Must have ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
• Willingness to travel occasionally across the U.S. for site support and coordination.
• Sitting/Standing: Both prolonged sitting and occasional standing may be required for troubleshooting and attending to system issues.
• PHD and 11-19 years of experience is required.
• Education required: High School Diploma
• Experience supporting FAA or other federal agencies, particularly in remote or field environments.
• Certifications such as ETA Certified Electronics Technician (CET), CompTIA Network+, or equivalent.
• Ability to lead and mentor technical staff across multiple locations.
• Mobility: Ability to move around the office environment to access computer hardware, networking equipment, and server rooms.
• Experience with configuration management, document control, and electronic testing tools.
• Master of Science degree and 14-22 years of experience is required.
• Dexterity: Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate computer equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform tasks requiring precision.
• Familiarity with FAA governance, cybersecurity protocols, and safety regulations.
