The engineer will also maintain and calibrate tools and test fixtures, read schematics and wiring diagrams, and keep the work area clean and compliant with safety protocols.
The engineer will support installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of cables, connectors, and subsea equipment at client sites, including shipyards, drilling rigs, and offshore platforms. All activities must adhere to safety and operational procedures in harsh environments.
Mako Industries is seeking a skilled Field Service Engineer to support the Global Tech Subsea division. The role involves assembling, testing, and repairing PBOF (Pressure Balanced Oil‑Filled) and MUX cables, as well as other subsea connectivity solutions in the manufacturing shop, while also providing field service support on‑shore and offshore as needed. Candidates must be hands‑on technicians experienced in cable assembly, terminations, electrical testing, and troubleshooting in demanding environments.
Required qualifications include at least five years of experience in cable assembly, electrical wiring, or fiber‑optic terminations, preferably in subsea applications. Candidates must be proficient with various cable types, testing equipment such as megohmmeters, TDRs, and high‑voltage insulation testers, and be able to read technical drawings and work instructions. Basic mechanical aptitude, ability to lift up to 50 lb, willingness to travel offshore (TWIC card and BOSIET preferred), and strong attention to detail and safety are essential.
Preferred experience includes work in oil & gas, subsea, or marine industries, prior offshore assignments with a valid HUET/BOSIET certification, and IPC/WHMA‑A‑620 certification for cable and wire‑harness assembly. Fiber‑optic termination and splicing expertise is also a plus.
Compensation is competitive and based on experience. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan, paid time off and a holiday schedule.
