The role is for a Lead Process Engineer who will provide innovative, value‑for‑money designs and act as a proactive problem‑solver by applying engineering principles. Responsibilities include reviewing the project mandate, preparing scope, methodology, programme and resource estimates for the design stage, and supporting design during construction. The engineer will be embedded within the SPA delivery team and accountable for a defined section of design output.
You will monitor workload and liaise with mechanical and electrical engineers, design leads and other disciplines, working alongside other Process Leads to understand system‑wide performance of pipelines and non‑infrastructure assets. The position involves developing water‑quality design proposals, agreeing them with the client and supplying information to production and delivery teams for progression through key scheme gateways. Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder‑management skills are essential. The role also requires maintaining close links with other engineers and the Discipline Head to manage interfaces and share best practice.
Candidates should hold a degree in water or wastewater process science/engineering and preferably a relevant postgraduate qualification such as a CIWEM or MSc. Membership of a professional body, experience in process engineering and a bias toward process/mechanical design‑and‑build are desirable. Excellent IT skills and proven problem‑solving ability are also required.
