Highways Project Engineer

Description

• Prepare technical designs for projects in accordance with approved design standards and procedures in line with the delivery programme
• Undertake research to inform updates to existing and the development of new national design standards and policy.
• Implement the appropriate QA procedures for all deliverables and ensure compliance with H&S requirements
• Ensure that relevant legislation, regulations, policies, strategies, and technical guidance is interpreted, followed and communicated across the team with guidance from senior members of staff

Requirements

• 35 years post graduate experience, preferably in a consultancy environment
• TII Publications (Standards and Technical)
• Drainage Design (MicroDrainage or similar)
• Vehicle Restraint Systems
• Working knowledge of Road Design Aspects (Geometric/ Drainage/ TSRM/ Pavement etc.)
• Geometric Design experience (Open Roads Designer, Civil 3D or equivalent)
• Working towards chartered professional status
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
• Communicate effectively and in a team environment with a broad crosssection of individuals. This would typically include but is not limited to; roads and streets team colleagues and project managers, other internal design disciplines, clients and contractors.
• Traffic signs and road markings (Traffic Signs Manual)
• ArcMap GIS
• Ability to effectively manage your time and deliver projects in a timely manner
