The Role

Overview

Manage and maintain BIM background files, ensuring version control and integration.

Tasks

-Convert and format incoming files (e.g., DWG, RVT, IFC, PDF) to meet VDC modeling requirements. -Coordinate with BIM Coordinators, Modelers, and Engineers to confirm proper file integration and reference accuracy. -Organized file/document management. -Review incoming background files for quality and usability before integration. -Perform regular background QA checks to identify broken links, model performance issues, or misaligned references. -Ensure all background references are up to date with the latest design packages, RFIs, and consultant revisions. -Track and document version updates to background files; maintain revision history and change logs. -File cleaning, preparation, and formatting. -Notify VDC BIM Coordinator and VDC BIM Modeler when updates to backgrounds may affect current model geometry. -Assist with the setup and maintenance of project BIM workspaces and shared data environments (e.g., Revit, ACC, BIM 360). -Manage background data, reference files, and linked drawings for use in BIM models. -May occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, and crouch. -Escalate unresolved background discrepancies to the VDC BIM Coordinator. -Maintain communication logs for background updates, RFIs, and design revisions to ensure auditability. -Review, clean, and prepare background files (e.g., remove title blocks, unnecessary layers) prior to model integration. -Maintain organized file structures and naming conventions in accordance with Rex Moore’s BIM standards and BEP guidelines. -Setup and maintenance of shared BIM environments. -Support the VDC team with document control tasks related to background content and model setup.

What You Bring

-High school diploma or technical certificate required; degree not required and/or electrical field experience. -Attention to detail in version control. -Ability to maintain version control across multiple platforms. -Basic knowledge of Revit, AutoDesk Construction Cloud; familiarity with CAD/PDF workflows. -1+ years related experience. -Ability to progress toward BIM Modeler or Coordinator roles. -Ability to hear with or without correction in order to receive and interpret detailed information. -Occasionally required to walk and stand for short and long periods of time. -Ability to verbally communicate: convey detailed and accurate instructions and information. -Required to sit at a desk work station for long periods of time. -Required to use fingers and hands: type using a computer keyboard, handle, feel, and reach. -Push, pull, lift, carry at least 10 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 35 pounds. -Required to have visual acuity with or without correction in order to read contract documents, analyze data, view a computer monitor, and proof-read documents to identify errors. -Ability to support background integration and team workflows.
