A Combination Welder will weld, fabricate, and assist pipe fitters in the installation of various industrial piping systems, including pipe supports, racks, and other materials. This role supports the overall project piping layout and ensures proper integration of components.
Key duties include selecting equipment, planning layouts, and applying knowledge of geometry, metal properties, and weld shrinkage to execute precise welds. The welder will layout, position, align, cut, assemble, and fit metal components, secure them with bolts, clamps, or tack‑welds, set up welding equipment, and follow appropriate procedures for various metals and pipe types while identifying equipment needs and safety risks.
The position demands the ability to weld in 2G, 4G, and 6G orientations, proficiency in both Stick and TIG welding on pipe, and a current Zachry welding certification or the ability to pass a weld test. Candidates must have at least four years of industrial pipe welding experience, possess the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, meet all physical requirements, and bring the necessary tools on the start date.
This position reports to a supervisor and has no direct reports. The employee must tolerate extensive standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 lb, and work at heights or on platforms with proper fall protection, while wearing required personal protective equipment in diverse weather conditions.
