Project Engineer I and II

Description

Key responsibilities include interpreting project plans and specifications for subcontractors, implementing pre‑construction quality plans, managing construction permits, and maintaining documentation such as material tracking lists, test and inspection logs, and non‑conformance reports. The Engineer will also manage contract documents, RFIs, change orders, and oversee testing and inspection processes using a three‑phase system. Additional duties involve coordinating subcontractor insurance, final payments, submittals, and building relationships across diverse backgrounds while leading and coaching team members.

• Interpret project plans, specs, and details for subcontractors and craft personnel.
• Implement pre‑construction quality plans and manage construction permits.
• Create and maintain material tracking, test/inspection lists, concrete placement logs, and non‑conformance reports.
• Manage contract documents, including RFIs and correspondence.
• Oversee testing and inspection with a three‑phase inspection system.
• Process submittals to align with the project schedule.
• Verify subcontractor insurance and coordinate final payment requests.
• Develop and update RFIs, change orders, and as‑built construction documents.
• Build relationships across diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
• Lead and coach team members, providing feedback and performance management.

Requirements

Qualifications require a bachelor’s degree in construction, civil or architectural engineering, construction management, or equivalent experience, a valid driver’s license, and strong attention to detail. Candidates should have a basic understanding of construction law, excellent teamwork, communication, problem‑solving, and leadership abilities, and be proficient with Microsoft Office and relevant project/web applications. Project Engineer 1 requires at least two years of related experience, while Project Engineer 2 requires three years, with salary ranges of $84,100–$113,500 and $93,400–$126,100 respectively, adjusted for certain office locations.

• Hold a bachelor’s degree in construction, civil, architectural engineering, or related field.

• Demonstrate strong teamwork, initiative, communication, problem‑solving, and leadership skills.
