The Principal Civil Engineer role focuses on data centre projects, providing technical leadership from site due‑diligence and master‑planning through to detailed design and construction support. Working within the Civil Engineering Business Unit, the engineer will collaborate with ground, structural, mechanical, electrical engineers, architects, project managers and environmental specialists across the UK and globally.
In this position the engineer will act as an ambassador for AECOM in the EMEA data‑centre market, ensuring technical excellence, resilience and interdisciplinary integration while supporting the company’s growth in the hyperscale and co‑location sectors.
The role requires a civil engineering degree, chartered status (CEng MICE or equivalent), and extensive experience delivering complex civil infrastructure—ideally in data centres or mission‑critical developments. Candidates must understand planning, highways, drainage, utility approvals, BIM processes and have a proven record as a design lead in multidisciplinary teams.
