Key responsibilities include performing inspections, diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and major repairs on various refuse trucks (front loaders, side loaders, rear loaders, roll‑offs) and supporting equipment. The role requires troubleshooting diesel engines, hydraulic, electrical, air‑brake, suspension, after‑treatment (DPF, DEF, SCR), and drivetrain systems, using tools such as JPRO and Cummins Insite, as well as completing HVAC repairs (A/C certification required).
The mechanic must ensure all work meets DOT, OSHA, and company safety standards, documenting parts, labor, and inspections in the maintenance software, and conducting pre‑ and post‑repair safety checks. In addition, the position provides operational support by responding to road calls, breakdowns, and emergencies, participating in a rotating on‑call schedule, and collaborating with operators, supervisors, and fleet management on repair planning.
We are seeking a highly skilled Class A or Class B Diesel Mechanic to join our fleet maintenance team in the waste and environmental services industry. The Diesel Mechanic will diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of heavy‑duty diesel trucks and waste‑industry equipment, ensuring safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate is experienced, self‑motivated, holds key certifications, and thrives in a high‑volume shop environment.

Candidates must bring their own tools and work cart, be able to lift up to 75 lb, and be willing to complete an ASE‑based skills test during the interview. Preferred credentials are ASE Medium/Heavy Truck T‑Series, a Class B CDL, waste‑industry experience, and welding or light‑fabrication abilities.
