Lawyer (Indirect Procurement)

Description

This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping the contracting and risk management framework of a global organization. The successful candidate will contribute to the evolution of modern, digital, and globally consistent procurement legal practices, supporting the company’s innovation, sustainability and operational excellence goals.

• Work closely with Procurement, Privacy, Information Security, AI teams globally.
• Provide early legal input on supplier performance or compliance issues.
• Identify and manage key risks, including data protection, information security, intellectual property, liability, insurance, confidentiality, and termination.
• Participate in global initiatives on AI governance and other governance relating to indirect procurement.
• Support the transition to and optimization of the organization's Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) system.
• Provide clear, practical, and business-oriented legal advice to the Procurement, IT, and Corporate Services teams.
• Ensure all contracts comply with the organization's legal, commercial, and risk management standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of the organization's contracting frameworks, templates, and playbooks.
• Develop and maintain guidelines and checklists for efficient contract review and risk assessment.
• Partner with business stakeholders to structure contracts that align with operational objectives while protecting the organization's interests.
• Assist in occasional resolving supplier disputes and claims, including escalation management and settlement negotiation.
• Support training and awareness sessions for procurement and business teams on contract management and risk identification.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of indirect procurement contracts, including:
• Advise on legal implications of procurement strategies and supplier relationships.
• This role would be supporting Global Senior Director, Legal - Commercial and Technology and report to Head – Legal, Compliance & Ethics – GCC.

• Legal Advice and Risk Management
• Strong analytical and organizational abilities, with a pragmatic and solutions-oriented mindset.
• Understanding of AI, automation, and governance in supplier contexts.
• Strong understanding of contract, commercial, and intellectual property law, as well as familiarity with data protection, information security and AI obligations.
• Prior experience supporting global procurement or IT functions.
• Law degree and full qualification to practice in at least one common law or civil law jurisdiction.
• Ability to balance legal risk with commercial priorities and propose clear recommendations.
• Familiarity with Contract Lifecycle Management systems (e.g., Agiloft, Icertis, or similar).
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and drafting skills.
• Minimum 5–8 years’ post-qualification experience, preferably gained in a top-tier law firm or multinational corporate legal department.
• Experience with cross-border contracting and multi-jurisdictional legal issues.
• Proven experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts, with a focus on indirect procurement and technology transactions.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and operational efficiency in legal processes.
