The Building Technician assists with the operation, troubleshooting, diagnostics, housekeeping, and repairs of commercial buildings, industrial systems, vehicles, grounds, and maintenance equipment for assigned properties. This role supports a wide range of systems and equipment to ensure safe and efficient facility operations. The technician works closely with customers and internal teams to address service requests promptly.
- Assist with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and installed systems, including packaging machinery, plumbing, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, grounds equipment, and HVAC.
- Clean, lubricate, and service pumps, valves, pneumatic controls, and electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic devices.
- Assist with installation and modification of building equipment and systems.
- Replace and repair finishes such as ceiling tiles, door hardware, wallpaper, and paint walls, piping, floors, and equipment.
- Troubleshoot, evaluate, and recommend upgrades to maintenance operations and savings opportunities.
- Respond immediately to emergency situations and customer service requests.
- Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions and perform preventative maintenance.
- Maintain and operate fire and life safety systems, including fire alarms and fire pumps.
- Perform carpentry and snow removal when necessary.
- Comply with applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency requirements, and company directives while practicing safe work habits.
- Utilize technology such as smartphones, tablets, computers, web‑based applications, and building automation systems.
- Complete all required C&W Safety Training annually.
- Adhere to C&W Uniform Dress Code and maintain a neat appearance on and off the property.
- May be the sole maintenance staff member on duty during certain shifts, requiring extended periods without relief, overtime, shift work, or on‑call duties.

The position operates in a professional office environment, using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers, while also requiring physical activities like moving around the workplace, standing, and extending arms. Physical demands include regular communication, occasional stationary work, and the ability to perform manual tasks. Shift work, on‑call duties, and overtime may be required, especially during emergencies. The technician must comply with all safety and dress‑code policies.

- 2+ years of related experience in a commercial property setting.

- Maintain a valid driver’s license (commercial license may be required) with a good driving record.
- Basic computing skills in Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Benefits
Compensation ranges from $21.25 to $25.00 per hour, with pay adjusted for location, experience, and collective bargaining status.
