Electrical EIT - Water Resources

Description

The position involves collaborating on civil and electrical design for water and wastewater treatment facilities, using AutoCAD and industry software to produce construction drawings and technical documents. The engineer attends project meetings, conducts limited field visits, and communicates progress to internal and external stakeholders while supporting multidisciplinary teams and permitting agencies.

• Assist in designing and coordinating civil engineering projects for water and wastewater treatment systems.
• Develop and revise construction drawings and technical documents using AutoCAD and other industry software.
• Participate in internal project meetings and collaborate on design timelines and deliverables.
• Conduct limited field visits and site observations under minimal supervision.
• Communicate project status and needs effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Plan and model electrical systems including power distribution, motor control, lighting, standby power, and SCADA/instrumentation.
• Prepare electrical plans, specifications, one‑line diagrams, control schematics, and bid/construction documents under senior engineer direction.
• Develop detailed design components for non‑standard or complex electrical and control systems for pumps and treatment processes.
• Support coordination with multidisciplinary design teams, permitting agencies, and clients.
• Assist with field evaluations, construction support, and site visits as assigned.

Requirements

The Electrical Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) supports the design and integration of electrical systems for water resources projects, working under senior engineers to deliver technical solutions. This role blends civil and electrical engineering expertise to ensure reliable infrastructure for water and wastewater treatment.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
• Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or Engineer Intern (EI) certification.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and other civil design software.
• At least one year of experience in water/wastewater treatment or related civil engineering discipline.
• Familiarity with field observation and construction administration tasks.
