Cost Intelligence Consultant (Construction Consultancy)

Description

As a Cost Intelligence Consultant, you will engage across all phases of large‑scale construction projects, collaborating with multi‑disciplinary teams and a variety of clients. The role leverages sector knowledge while offering exposure to new research areas, and you will be accountable for project deliverables and driving innovation alongside colleagues.

Your responsibilities include supporting commissions focused on efficiency, value identification, and construction economics, developing cost models and estimates, conducting statistical analyses, and creating business cases. You will also work with senior leadership to mature service offerings, assist in preparing technical and financial proposals, and ensure effective project and financial management for complex assignments while maintaining high‑quality outputs.

• Support and deliver commissions in efficiency & value identification, assurance, construction economics research, and cost intelligence services.
• Develop cost models or estimates and conduct statistical analysis for benchmarking and efficiency exercises.
• Create business cases and cost‑benefit analyses; define business models.
• Identify cost‑reduction opportunities through benchmarking and efficiency exercises.
• Apply analysis to client and industry datasets to produce data‑driven solutions.
• Collaborate with leadership to mature service offerings and provide practical solutions.
• Assist senior management in preparing technical and financial proposals.
• Manage project and financial aspects of complex assignments to ensure effective delivery.
• Produce high‑quality, auditable deliverables with clear documentation and validation.
• Conduct technical reporting and presentations tailored to client needs.
• Perform creative problem‑solving and develop innovative solutions for client challenges.
• Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, and internal teams; manage stakeholder relationships.
• Deliver outputs on schedule while maintaining rigorous quality control and error checking.

Requirements

The ideal candidate has experience in key construction infrastructure markets and demonstrates expertise in technical analysis, problem‑solving, stakeholder communication, and timely project delivery. Strong analytical capabilities, high‑quality reporting, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams are essential.

Required skills include proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and strong interpersonal abilities. Desirable experience encompasses work in the Defence sector, familiarity with Python or R, and a background in database development. Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a STEM discipline (minimum 2:2) and be members of relevant professional bodies such as RICS or APM.
