In a client‑focused role, the consultant will lead cost planning and present cost plans to clients, manage the full procurement process, deliver cost‑management services to meet strategic KPIs, conduct feasibility studies, produce ROMs, oversee day‑to‑day cost management, apply value‑management techniques, control post‑contract cost variances, produce monthly cost reports, provide value engineering and life‑cycle costing, negotiate final accounts, and continuously update benchmarking data.
Upholding integrity, the consultant will manage fiscally and ethically viable operations, contribute to net‑zero carbon transition efforts, and hold others accountable to Mace’s values.
To create opportunity, the consultant will lead teams with effective leadership, promote continuous improvement, network and innovate using Mace’s knowledge hubs, and enhance cost‑management procedures, templates and products for stakeholder benefit.
- Lead cost planning and present cost plans to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Manage end‑to‑end procurement, including pre‑qualification, enquiry, evaluation, selection and contract preparation.
- Deliver cost‑management services to achieve strategic outcomes and KPIs.
- Conduct feasibility studies and produce procurement reports.
- Develop ROM estimates for new and pipeline projects.
- Oversee day‑to‑day cost management, pay requests, change management and cost reporting.
- Apply value‑management techniques and provide value engineering and life‑cycle costing.
- Control post‑contract cost variances, change control, cost checking and valuations.
- Produce and present monthly post‑contract cost reports to clients.
- Negotiate and agree final accounts with clients.
- Update benchmarking data to provide real cost information for future projects.
- Champion safety, quality, sustainability and compliance standards on all projects.
- Lead and develop cost‑management teams, fostering continuous improvement.
- Identify and implement improvements to cost‑management procedures, templates and products.
- Support net‑zero carbon transition by managing carbon emissions and reductions.
- Maintain professional membership (e.g., MRICS/RICS) and progress towards fellowship.
