The superintendent is responsible for organizing and directing construction operations, ensuring compliance with design specifications, keeping the project on schedule and within budget, and meeting quality standards. Coordination with field staff, the Project Manager, and client representatives is essential for a coordinated effort.
Minimum qualifications include a BA/BS in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field with at least eight years of relevant experience (or equivalent education and experience). A valid driver’s license is required to operate AECOM‑provided vehicles on project sites.
The position demands physical stamina to climb ladders, use hoists, and move through active construction zones, as well as the ability to lift materials up to 50 pounds unassisted. The work environment includes exposure to heavy machinery, elevated areas, airborne particles, variable weather, and potential electrical hazards, with mandatory use of personal protective equipment.
Preferred qualifications feature a bachelor’s degree, proven superintendent experience on large‑scale projects (often exceeding $100 million), and familiarity with Chicago public‑infrastructure construction codes. Candidates should possess strong leadership, problem‑solving, communication, and project‑management software skills, and have experience with airports, convention centers, stadiums, data centers, and MEP/FP systems.
The role does not include sponsorship for U.S. work authorization, though relocation assistance may be available. Selected applicants must pass a substance‑abuse test, a motor‑vehicle record review, and may need to complete a client‑specific security screening after hire.
