Key responsibilities include developing creative solutions to complex engineering problems, preparing design specifications, writing embedded software, and performing module, integration, and hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) testing. The I&C Embedded Software Engineer works within the Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineering team of GE Vernova Hitachi (GVH). The team designs and implements I&C electronic hardware and software for nuclear power plants, interfacing closely with hardware design and plant operations. This role demands technical problem solving, strong software skills, and effective communication across GVH business functions.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer, or software engineering and have at least ten years of embedded software development experience. This includes seven years of advanced C programming, extensive experience with coding conventions, unit and integration testing, and familiarity with tools such as GitLab, Jira, LDRA, Arm Development Studio, Visual Studio, and GDB.
The preferred work location is GVH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC, though highly qualified U.S.-based remote candidates will be considered if they can be onsite one to two weeks per month or travel for urgent issues. The role requires access to U.S. export‑controlled information, and final offers depend on obtaining the necessary authorization.
Desired qualifications include intermediate Python knowledge, experience with industry‑standard development environments (e.g., DO‑178, SEAL), and proficiency in Agile or Waterfall methodologies. Leadership experience, strong written and verbal communication skills, and a proactive approach to learning new tools and driving improvements are valued.
