Entry-level field technician collecting, processing, and documenting survey data.

Tasks

-Communicates with field staff, CAD Technicians, and project managers on a daily basis. -Collects, processes, and downloads surveying field data. -Maintains surveying gear and company vehicles. -Interprets & extracts data from engineering plans & surveying documents. -Follows FGI Safety Protocols and completes daily Job Safety Assessments (JSA) -Prepares clear, concise, and accurate field notes and sketches. -Uses math formulas, calculators and data collectors to determine positional information. -Operates, cleans & maintains surveying equipment as directed.

What You Bring

-Requires lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing, climbing, pushing, pulling, hammering, digging, and other physical activities -Requires the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. -Familiar with basic surveying principles such as leveling, traversing, public land surveys, metes & bounds, boundary surveys, and topographic mapping -Valid US driver's license & good driving record -Ability to Travel (approximately 80%) -Basic math skills, including trigonometry, geometry, and algebra. -Ability to work in various terrain & weather conditions and recognize safety hazards. -Familiar with traffic control operations based on field activities. -CST1 (certified survey technician level 1) certification -High School diploma or equivalent -0 – 2 years previous surveying experience -Familiar with Trimble Surveying Instruments -Previous safety training (OSHA, First-Aid) -Ability to operate in a mentor / mentee Team atmosphere -Requires the ability to safely operate and drive company vehicles. -Ability to understand and operate current & new technology -Familiar with Metes & Bounds or the Public Land Survey System (PLSS)
