Are you a Virtual Design and Construction Technician with a thorough knowledge of HVAC piping and/or industrial piping system installation throughout a broad spectrum of building types? The ideal candidate will have experience with building-related projects, hospitals & medical buildings, industrial manufacturing plants, schools, retail, and commercial buildings, etc. Also be capable of performing all aspects of the VDC drawing process beginning to end.
VDC Technician - HVAC Piping
We are looking for multiple positions that would be located either in our Freeport, IL or our Westmont, IL offices. We will consider candidates for remote positions as well, but those individuals must have significant 3D modeling experience, typically 10+ years or more.
- Skillset to quickly adapt to strict VDC standards and processes.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in the building mechanical contracting industry
- Lead technicians must have experience in the construction coordination process and production of drawings for Coordination, Fabrication, and Installation of systems.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Experience producing mechanical design drawings for engineering review and permitting is a plus.
- Drafting degree is a plus, but with the proper field experience it is not mandatory
- Understanding all MEP disciplines is a plus, but not mandatory. Candidates with sound experience in a specific discipline may be eligible for training in all disciplines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are needed.
- Microsoft Office Suite Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) is needed.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a VDC/BIM Technician for a mechanical contracting firm using Revit
- Knowledge of HVAC piping, and/or industrial piping systems and designs. This includes sizing and layout of systems.
- Basic knowledge of building codes.
- Basic knowledge of design tools involved in the production of plans, sections, P&ID’s, and equipment schedules.
- Generate construction documents from 3D Models. Knowledge of BIM.
- Knowledge of database management is a plus, but not mandatory
- Ability to develop plans/ISOs from P&ID layouts.
- Experience working with Navisworks, Revizto, BIM track, etc. is required.
- Revit – 5+ years required.
- Previous experience with 3D modeling software. Autodesk Revit is the primary software we use.
- Willingness to travel to job sites for field walk downs and occasional project meetings.
