A wireperson is responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining electrical systems and components. They work with various types of wiring, cables, and connectors to ensure proper functioning of electrical equipment and systems, reading and interpreting schematics and collaborating with electricians and technicians. Safety regulations and industry standards must be followed to ensure system integrity and reliability.
- Use hand tools (crimpers, strippers, torquing, calibrating, etc.) to perform tasks
- Run and bundle wires according to Powell wiring standards
- Layout, install, drill, and tap devices onto doors and back pans
- Install name plates and space heaters
- Install and terminate CTs
- Operate continuity buzzers
- Terminate and run wire for MCC, SWGR, and harnesses per wire diagram
- Promote a safety culture and attend all safety meetings
- Maintain clean and organized work areas
- Perform in‑process inspections
- Read and interpret spec sheets and master copy drawings
- Follow directions from senior and lead assemblers
- Deliver on‑time results and stay focused on goals
- Adhere to manufacturing policies and ISO requirements
- Work in a temperature‑controlled, safety‑sensitive environment with occasional outdoor activities
- Operate from various ladders and scaffolding, working at heights up to 30 ft
- Maintain balance and agility when walking, standing, crouching, and climbing stairs
- Perform repetitive bending, extending, and reaching motions
- Climb stairs frequently throughout the shift
- Apply up to 50 lb force continuously with upper extremities
- Use hand tools (tin snips, hammer, power tools) for extended periods

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Read and understand point‑to‑point wiring diagrams
- Use a tape measure accurately
- Basic command of written and verbal English
- Safely use a variety of hand/power tools
- Lift up to 50 lb using proper lifting techniques
- Basic computer knowledge considered an asset
- Knowledge of calibration
- Self‑starter able to handle multiple tasks and drive success
- Adapt to new ideas, technology, processes, and product changes
- Display integrity, ethical decision‑making, and customer focus
- Be conscientious, thorough, accurate, and reliable in task completion
- Work effectively within teams and across departments
- Wear required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, harnesses, respirators) at all times
- Stand, walk, and travel 50‑300 ft continuously with occasional sitting
- Look over shoulders and work with arms above shoulder level regularly
