The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of both cloud‑based and on‑premises infrastructure. The primary focus is on Microsoft Azure and Azure Stack HCI, with AWS used as a secondary cloud platform. The role involves implementing secure, scalable, and cost‑effective solutions, supporting workload migration from VMware to Azure, and optimizing performance with Azure‑native tools. Global coverage includes North America, Europe, and other company locations.
The engineer will lead capacity planning, develop long‑term cloud strategy, and collaborate with stakeholders to define infrastructure goals. They will coordinate with network, application, and database teams to deploy solutions, conduct cost‑benefit and ROI analyses, and recommend cloud software. Migration duties include moving VMware workloads to Azure and Azure Stack HCI, followed by post‑migration optimization using Azure tools, networking design, and Terraform‑based deployments. Ongoing operational tasks cover resource design, Azure Arc hybrid management, performance monitoring, access control, containerization with Kubernetes, data security, backups, disaster recovery, and comprehensive documentation. The role also involves escalation handling with the Service Desk and contributing to process improvement within the team.
The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in IT or engineering (advanced degree preferred) and possesses 8–10 years of total experience, including at least 5 years on Azure (AWS preferred). Required certifications include Azure Solutions Architect and AWS Solutions Architect, and the candidate should be proficient with Terraform, Azure Arc, Kubernetes, and cloud networking concepts. Additional qualifications include system administration experience (Linux/Windows), project management, DevOps practices, and knowledge of ITIL/ITSM frameworks. Strong communication skills, the ability to work in global teams, fluency in English, and willingness to travel up to 10% are also essential.
