As part of the Drainage Transportation Team, the engineer will work on local flood control projects, bringing a detail‑oriented approach to each task. The position combines technical design work with project management, requiring collaboration with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to meet client needs and solve complex drainage problems.
Key responsibilities include designing roadway drainage, flood control, and erosion control facilities; conducting hydrologic and hydraulic analyses; preparing technical reports, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates; and ensuring compliance with AASHTO, FHWA, NEPA, USACE, and local storm‑water guidelines. The role also involves client and agency interfacing, stakeholder coordination, proposal development, schedule and budget monitoring, and providing strategic technical leadership throughout project lifecycles.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a Professional Engineer (PE) license, with 5‑15+ years of hydraulic design experience. Proficiency in software such as Bentley ProjectWise, MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC‑RAS, and related tools is required, along with familiarity with DOT standard plans and specifications. Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and multitasking skills are essential, as is the ability to lead technical staff and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
The Senior Drainage Engineer / Project Manager role is located in Spokane, WA, reports to Jake Menard, and offers a salary range of $105,000 to $150,000 per year.
