Senior Environmental Consultant - Contaminated Land

Description

• Work across diverse contaminated land project types, including public infrastructure and commercial/industrial sites.
• Lead contaminated site assessment, management and remediation projects, conducting field investigations.
• Apply NSW and national guidance on contaminated land management, auditor schemes, and risk assessment principles.
• Manage small to medium projects and coordinate larger ones, overseeing field investigations, sub‑contractors and reporting.
• Prepare sampling plans, investigation/validation reports and management plans for regulatory submission and audits.
• Engage with national and multinational clients to deliver project outcomes.
• Support business development by contributing to proposals and bids.
• Maintain and develop client relationships within the firm and with key external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross‑disciplinary teams and clients to ensure project integrity and success.
• Mentor and develop junior consultants within the team.
• Participate actively in industry bodies.
• Develop and communicate conceptual site models outlining contaminant sources, pathways, and fate.
• Maintain a solid understanding of state and national regulatory frameworks.
• Deliver projects on budget and schedule through effective project management.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a tertiary qualification in environmental engineering, geology, hydrogeology or a related science and possess extensive experience in contaminated land investigation, management and remediation, including PFAS. A strong grasp of NSW and national regulatory guidance, proven project‑management abilities, and skill in client relationship management are essential. Experience mentoring junior staff and producing technical proposals and reports is also required.

• Utilise ESdat and ArcGIS for strong data management (preferred).
• Hold a tertiary qualification in environmental engineering, geology, hydrogeology or environmental science.
• Demonstrate extensive experience in contaminated land investigation, management and remediation, including PFAS.
• Exhibit proven field investigation methodology expertise and the ability to mentor junior staff.
• Produce technical proposals and reports with strong writing skills.
• Experience in a consultancy environment and managing key client relationships.
