Production Group Lead

Description

The Production Group Lead serves as the primary point of contact for molding operators and skilled machine operators on shift. This role supports the Production Supervisor by coordinating daily floor activities, ensuring safety, driving production efficiency, and maintaining product quality.

• Lead on-shift operators and serve as first point of contact.
• Communicate production goals, priorities, and changes to the team.
• Coordinate shift handoff with accurate documentation of machine status, quality issues, and production counts.
• Escalate issues promptly to Production Supervisor or Process Tech/Engineering.
• Monitor machine performance, cycle times, and scrap trends.
• Ensure workstations are staffed, organized, and supplied to meet schedules.
• Adjust workflow or reassign personnel to maintain throughput.
• Support machine startups and shutdowns as needed.
• Enforce safety standards and proper PPE use; report unsafe conditions.
• Coach operators on correct processes and best practices.
• Verify production logs, scrap reports, and downtime reasons.
• Track daily shift performance against targets.
• Provide feedback on staffing, training needs, and recurring issues.

Requirements

The position typically requires at least five years of production coordination or team-lead experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to lift up to 35 lb. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, while bilingual ability, an associate or bachelor’s degree, ERP proficiency, forklift certification, and a continuous-improvement mindset are desired.

• Minimum 5+ years of production coordination, team lead, or similar experience.
• Strong verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lb.
• Proficiency in data entry, office equipment, and basic database use.
• Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Desired: Bilingual English/Spanish.
• Desired: Associate or bachelor's degree in business, operations, or technical field.
