We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer II (Product Quality focus) to join our engineering team in our Sun Prairie Innovation Center! In this role you will provide cross functional support throughout the NPD process, develop new cost effective design solutions, and prepare engineering specifications and production documentation.

  • Identify product or productivity improvement opportunities.
  • Support process improvement and cost reduction projects without compromising product quality.
  • Provide status and information to keep stakeholders informed of progress on key test plan activities and outcomes.
  • Prepare testing set ups (i.e. equipment, fixtures, etc.), build test fixtures as required and perform tests according to procedures.
  • Monitor test data, analyze and prepare test reports.
  • Collaborate with Lab Operation team on planning and executing tests.
  • Collaborate with others in the Engineering team and other departments to accomplish goals and solve issues
  • Develop and/or recommend improved or new testing procedures.
  • Review and approve CRs and CNs in the Windchill PLM system.
  • Collaborate with Product Management to ensure products are meeting customers expectations
  • Collaborate with other functional groups as a technical resource for product line.
  • Provide technical input in NPI activities and Engineering design reviews.
  • Use engineering problem solving tools and methods to systematically solve production or customer issues.
  • Plan and direct testing of new products, components and materials and the improving and updating of existing products and components.
  • Constructing test plans and conducting developmental testing of humidification, refrigeration systems, filtration, and ventilation.
  • Initiate purchase orders and requisitions
  • Act as a technical resource to other departments to address and resolve inquiries and problems.
  • Coordinate with vendors for obtaining parts and samples for test tooling.
  • Create, maintain, and obtain approval of Design Verification Plans and Reports (DVP&R).
  • Participate on cross functional teams to ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes, methods, productivity and quality, while reducing costs.
  • Install units for field performance testing.
  • Be a technical voice in design reviews and design decisions.
  • Prepare production samples and prototypes for testing at internal and external labs.
  • Investigating field returned warranty unit and determining solutions when issues occur

  • Experience working within industry codes and standards.
  • 3+ years of product engineering experience including new product design and sustaining activities
  • Must be able to produce professional and usable engineering output with minimal direction.
  • Working knowledge of regulations, standards, and codes such as those produced or endorsed by, but not limited to, IEC, IEEE, NEMA, NEC, UL, AHRI, and ASHRAE.
  • Understanding of robust engineering practices with experience in the following a plus:Constructing test plans and conducting developmental testing of humidification, refrigeration systems, filtration, and ventilation.Investigating field returned warranty unit and determining solutions when issues occur
  • Teamwork, ability to work cohesively in a team environment.
  • Understanding of Design for Six Sigma is a plus
  • Must have effective technical communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks; ability to use for design is a plus
  • Industry experience in consumer products, commercial products and/or electronic products that are mass produced.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or similar disciplines
  • Experience with Windchill PLM is a plus
  • Demonstrated understanding of environmental, reliability & qualification testing.
  • Motivation, high energy. demonstrate high urgency while working within the team environment to drive projects/tasks to completion in order to meet project deadlines.
  • Experience having a primary role on a team to bring new products to market using a New Product Development process.
  • Follow engineering and problem-solving principles in the execution of day-to-day work
  • Experience in the design of high volume products is desirable
  • Project Management skills, ability to plan and manage projects from ideation to implementation.
