Record data, such as observing and interpreting readings on gauges, meters, and charts which register various aspects of the system’s operation, adjusting controls to insure safe and efficient operation of the system and to meet demands for the services provided; temperature of equipment, hours of operation, energy consumed, temperature or pressure, water levels, and analysis of voltage load . Also adjusts manual controls or overrides automatic controls to bring equipment into recommended or prescribed operating ranges, switch to backup equipment or systems, or to shut down equipment.
May respond to service calls related to temperature controls, comfort issues, electrical issues, life safety issues, etc.
May perform water titration tests and pour chemical additives, such as water softeners, into treatment tanks to prevent scale buildup.
Record operation and maintenance actions taken during shift in operators’ logbook.
May visually inspect equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment, or lubrication.
