Field Technician

Description

• Perform construction quality assurance / construction quality control field inspections.
• Conduct material laboratory quality control testing.
• Perform density testing and observe soil placement.
• Perform field testing of concrete, soil, aggregate, and bituminous paving materials.
• Monitor subsurface investigations including exploratory borings, geoprobing, and environmental sampling.
• Monitor foundation, geotechnical, and related construction activities.
• Prepare daily field reports and test summaries in a timely fashion.
• Effectively communicate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Safety‑sensitive position; operate motor vehicle safely daily.
• Operate hand and power tools.

Requirements

The position is based in the Jessup, PA office, and the technician must be willing to travel throughout the service area, including overnight stays when required. Flexibility to work on diverse projects in different locations is essential.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license in good standing.
• Ability to travel to and from job sites, potentially overnight.
• Team-oriented with ability to perform independent hands‑on fieldwork.
• Self‑starter with strong verbal and written communication, basic computer skills, strong work ethic, and organizational skills.
• Associate’s degree or certificate in CAD, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Frequently lift 30‑60 lb (occasionally 60‑100 lb) and carry 30‑60 lb up to 30 ft.
• Work outdoors in all climates; walk and stand continuously 8‑10 hours on uneven surfaces with frequent bending and stooping.
