The primary function of this assignment is to support manufacturing engineering by improving aerospace manufacturing processes through new technologies, lean practices, Six Sigma, fixture design, and documentation. During the first two months, the co‑op will design fixtures and tooling, receive GD&T training, and use 3D modeling software and professional‑grade 3D printers or the in‑house prototype machine shop to create designs that quickly move to production.
In the second two months, the co‑op will tackle increasingly complex fixture and tooling designs while receiving lean manufacturing training. Projects will focus on increasing work‑cell throughput, including process documentation and fixturing improvements in collaboration with Lean event teams.
During the final two months, the co‑op will be assigned ownership of a product line, working closely with the full‑time Manufacturing Engineer and interfacing with Quality, Operations, Planning, Purchasing, and Design Engineering. This experience prepares the co‑op to independently lead manufacturing engineering efforts for the product line.
Basic qualifications include active enrollment in a bachelor's program in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Chemical, or Materials Engineering with a minimum 3.0 GPA, residence within 50 miles of Glenolden, PA, and legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Additional qualifications call for familiarity with 3D CAD modeling, machining, soldering, electrical test equipment, and the ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics. Preference is given to junior or senior students in good standing who have related work, volunteer, or prior co‑op experience.
Benefits programs are offered to employees and their families, with specific options varying based on geographic location, hire date, and any applicable collective bargaining agreements.
